Professional Insights

Hanna Dickhuth: Marketing Manager at Striatech

What attracted you to Striatech and how have you experienced the transition to a new industry?

Switching from the beauty industry to neuroscience isn’t exactly the most obvious career move but for me it felt right. I was looking for something with depth and meaning. What drew me to Striatech is the opportunity to support scientists in their research and be part of a field where new insights can truly make a difference.

I have to admit that transitioning into a highly specialized field also brought challenges for me, like working with scientific papers which can be tough without a background in science. Luckily, I don’t need to be a neuroscientist to add value. I work closely with a great team that brings the expertise, context and experience needed to navigate this field and I learn a lot from them every day.

I see my role as a translator that helps bridge the gap between innovation and the people it’s meant to support. Part of that is making sure researchers become aware of what Striatech can offer because the best solution only matters if people know it exists.

How have you adapted your skills from your previous role to your current position?

In my previous role, I gained broad marketing knowledge and worked closely with agencies on diverse campaigns. This taught me to stay organized and manage multiple tasks effectively. Now, being more hands-on, I apply those experiences directly to projects at Striatech. Whether developing strategies, creating content, or designing materials, I’m involved at every stage, which keeps the work dynamic and exciting. I enjoy combining strategic thinking with creativity to ensure that our initiatives are well planned and engaging.

What does marketing at Striatech mean?

Marketing at Striatech is about supporting vision scientists in academia and industry by making sure they can get the most out of our research solutions. That starts with clear, accessible training and documentation, as well as quick, helpful answers whenever questions arise. We want researchers to feel well-equipped and confident when working with our tools.

In addition to supporting our users, we also work to raise awareness of what Striatech offers. As a focused and dedicated team, we aim to build meaningful connections with the scientific community through platforms like our Journal Club and curated paper recommendations. Both of these platforms are based on published studies involving our solutions and help researchers stay informed about current scientific developments.

We are present both online and offline: events like ARVO give us the chance to meet scientists and partners face to face, while platforms like LinkedIn – and of course our own website! – allow us to share updates, start conversations and stay connected between conferences.

Ultimately, marketing at Striatech means being a reliable and authentic partner – so that researchers can focus on what matters most: their science.

How do you stay creative and innovative in such a specialized industry?

I often turn to podcasts and blogs for inspiration, both in marketing and beyond. One podcast I regularly listen to is Online Marketing Rockstars. It offers a good mix of practical insights and fresh perspectives from the marketing world. Blogs like MarketingProfs help me stay up to date with trends and strategies.

Collaboration plays a big role for me. I get a lot out of exchanging ideas with my team. Even quick conversations can spark new thoughts I wouldn’t have had on my own.

And of course, AI tools have meanwhile become a helpful part of the process to explore visuals or test directions when I feel stuck. They’re not a magic solution, but they open up new possibilities and save time when I need a fresh angle.

What role does digital innovation play in your marketing strategy at Striatech?

Digital innovation plays a key role in how we approach marketing at Striatech. As a small and hands-on team, we rely on digital tools to help us work efficiently and stay flexible. We actively explore how AI can support us in creating relevant and engaging content — for example, by helping draft texts or find the right visual language for complex topics. But the final message always comes from a human who understands our audience and values scientific accuracy.

I’m especially excited about interactive formats like our Journal Club webinars. They allow us to connect with the research community in meaningful ways and to share knowledge beyond traditional channels. These formats align well with our goal of being close to the scientific dialogue.

We also see digital platforms like LinkedIn as an important extension of our communication, helping us share updates, highlight relevant research and stay in touch with researchers between events.

Personal Insights

What drives you personally in your work and life?

A big part of my role is not just making sure Striatech gets noticed, but reaching the researchers who truly benefit from our tools and support. What motivates me most is helping vision scientists advance their research — research that could one day lead to new treatments.

I also find real joy in connecting with others, whether it’s colleagues, clients or the broader scientific community. These interactions enrich my professional journey and often inspire me beyond work. Sharing ideas, gaining new perspectives and enjoying moments of laughter and insight gives me energy and adds meaning to what I do. Attending ARVO for the first time this year was a real highlight. Meeting researchers face to face was genuinely inspiring and strengthened my sense of purpose.

While my work drives me, life at home with three young kids brings its own kind of intensity, but also a lot of perspective. They keep me grounded, remind me what truly matters and give balance to everything else.

How do you balance the demands of work and family?

I have a family and a job I genuinely enjoy, so balance for me means staying focused and flexible. I work concentrated hours in the morning at the office and if needed, I can shift into an evening meeting. That gives me the structure I need while keeping things adaptable.

I’m grateful that Striatech supports this way of working. The freedom it gives me allows me to be present where I’m needed most, whether that’s joining a team call, finalizing a campaign or being there for my kids in the afternoon.

To me, balance isn’t about doing everything at once. It’s about doing the right things at the right time. And sometimes, that also means carving out time for myself — like playing tennis with friends. It’s the best way to clear my head and recharge.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work to recharge?

I love visiting art exhibitions, especially contemporary ones that make you stop and think. I’d also like to make more time for cultural events like theater or ballet, but with young kids and everything else going on, that’s still more of a wish than a routine.

Being in nature helps me slow down and reset. A quiet walk and some fresh air are often all it takes to clear my head.

Tennis has become part of my weekly rhythm. I love the mix of focus, movement and fun — and it gives me the energy I need to be there, at work and at home.

Who or what has been your greatest source of inspiration throughout your career?

My greatest sources of inspiration have been people who lead with integrity and a clear sense of purpose. Early in my career, I was fortunate to work with a manager who showed me what true professionalism looks like — and how powerful it is when people support each other and lead with kindness. Her example still shapes how I approach challenges and collaboration today.

I also deeply admire people who stay calm under pressure and remain true to themselves. That kind of grounded presence inspires me to meet situations with more clarity and resilience.

How would you describe Striatech’s journey and culture in three words?

Collaborative, impactful and empowering.
