This study shows that 40‑Hz light flicker boosts retinal amyloid‑β clearance in aged mice by upregulating MHC‑II in microglia, particularly along retinal veins and in the subretinal space. Enhanced MHC‑II⁺ microglial activation improved electroretinogram responses and visual acuity (assessed by optomotor reflex with Striatech’s OptoDrum), while minocycline blocked these benefits, underscoring a microglia‑dependent mechanism.
