Oh et al. investigated the presence of beta-amyloid in the retina and optic nerve of 2-month-old mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) prior to the onset of clinical symptoms, comparing their findings to age-matched controls. The study aimed to determine whether early pathological changes in the optic nerve could be detected before clinical deficits appeared in vision. The OptoDrum was used to measure visual acuity and contrast sensitivity in 2-month-old mouse models (5xFAD) and 2-month-old normal mice (C57BL/6), revealing no difference yet at this age.
